Marcus Hiles Suggests Homebuyers And Renters Demand Up-To-Date Air Conditioning

The last energy saving tip from Marcus Hiles is to look for a home or apartment with an air conditioner that has a season energy efficiency ratio, or SEER, of over 15.  New air units are only required to rate at 13 or 14 by the Department of Energy, but Hiles says that the higher the number the better.  Compared to a unit that’s 15 years old and rated 10, there can be air conditioning cost savings of 60 percent.  Hiles and his company Western Rim Properties supply all properties developed with high efficiency air conditioning units that save over $420,000 every year, or more than $6 million over 5 years as well as lowering carbon emissions by 327,000 tons over the course of a decade.
